Karen is a practising private, peri, first access and classroom music teacher in York with pupils from 5 years old to 72.  Co-author (with Heather Hammond) of Get Set! Piano (Collins Music), and also The Intermediate Pianist with Faber Music (brand new for 2017), she is the compiler of ABRSM Piano Encore, and has also been regularly published in Music Teacher magazine. Her latest book, Ideas for Instrumental Music Teachers, is co-written with Penny Stirling and is due to be published by Collins Music shortly.  Her writing is steeped in her ongoing music teaching practice. Specialising in multi-sensory music teaching, Karen is a training associate for the British Dyslexia Association’s music committee and trains teachers countrywide on the topic, running their annual Music and Dyslexia qualification course. A speaker and regular workshop presenter across the UK on a whole range of topics, she also runs a school choir and supports community music voluntarily. Karen is Kodály trained (via the British Kodály Academy), a mother of three, and former student of the late Christine Brown, who is passionate about bringing the joy of music to all her students.
