Inspire-works was founded in 2002 by Mike & Jacqui Simpson, a professional percussionist and theatre director respectively, after spending an intensive year studying Indonesian arts in Bali. They have since grown the business to involve a team of 20 workshop facilitators delivering world-music and dance workshops to over 65,000 children and young adults in over 650 schools throughout the UK each academic year. They have also delivered CPD sessions for many music hubs and at national education conferences. Inspire-works hold two Guinness World Records; the largest drumming lesson (1,827 participants and a further 10,000 joining via live stream), the largest samba band (1,675 London school children and was featured on BBC Blue Peter, The Evening Standard and The Sun). They are twice finalists in the Music Teacher Awards (2015 & 2017) and submit 1,000 Arts Awards per year. Their Musical Director, Mike Simpson, is the author of Rhinegold Education’s Teach & Play world-music series of teaching resources a Senior Examiner for Trinity College London. In 2018, Inspire-works launched their online workshops and courses enabling their knowledge and expertise to reach schools and communities anywhere in the world.
