Schools Minister Nick Gibb on the Importance of High-quality Arts Education 24 February 2017

Minister of State for School Standards Nick Gibb MP addressed delegates at Music & Drama Education Expo on 9 February, using his speech to emphasise the importance of high-quality arts education.

The Minister introduced the New Schools Network’s report into the importance of the arts, asserting the report ‘puts to rest the tired and inaccurate criticisms of the EBacc policy’.

Also announced were updates to content for GCSE and A level drama to ensure all pupils ‘have the entitlement to experience live theatre’ and are not ‘limited to watching a DVD or a peer performance’.
